CAPCOM DESTRUCTION

In 1999, Capcom created one of the greatest head to head fighting games ever made. The 3rd installment of Street Fighter 3. 3rd Strike introduced 4 new characters plus Chun Li and Akuma. In 1999 head to head fighting games still had some type of relevance in arcades, however, console gaming was surely becoming the overlord.

Fast forward to February 2009, Street Fighter 4, 10 years after the epic 3rd Strike. This story takes place right between Super Turbo & Street Fighter 3. By March 2009 the game had sold over 3 million copies worldwide. Street Fighter 4 along with Super Street Fighter 4 revived the fighting game genre, most definately no disrespect to the Tekken king Katsuhiru Harada.

Street Fighter 4 (E3 2009)

Old school popular games such as Marvel vs Capcom, Soul Caliber, Mortal Kombat and even Dead or Alive have reinvented themselves. At Comic Con 2010 Namco & Capcom took it a step further with titles coming soon, Street Fighter x Tekken and Tekken x Street Fighter.

Street Fighter x Tekken

This title is a game developed by Capcom. It will take Tekken characters, which are mainly 3D and convert them to the 2D style of Street Fighter in a 2 on 2 tag battle. I would say a 2D version of Tekken Tag. Namco will also be doing a version in this crossover series.

Tekken x Street Fighter

This title developed by Namco will have the 2D Street Fighter characters converted to 3D Tekken style, which might mean that projectiles may limited but not removed. I'm not worried, I'm sure Harada-san has something up his sleeve. I take all this with a grain of salt, especially with Seth Killian already mentioning Street Fighter 5 and MVC3, SFxT or TxSF even hit the shelves yet.

Is Capcom draining the community with ALL it's new games, DLC's and new releases so close together??? I honestly want to see the Namco version more. I really think Harada-san has something in store for both Street Fighter and Tekken fans.

Ryu (Tekken x Street Fighter)

From a previous blog, we already know the roster leak for Street Fighter x Tekken was a sham. What we know so far is on the Street Fighter side your characters are:
Ryu, Ken, Guile, Abel, Chun Li, Cammy, Sagat, Dhalsim, Poison, Hugo, Ibuki, Rolento, Zangief and Rufus.

From the Tekken side we have:
Kazuya, Nina, Marduk, King, Bob, Julia, Hwoarang, Steve, Yoshimitsu, Raven, Kuma, Heihachi and Lili.

There will be system exclusives, but who cares. They will be disabled during tourney play. What upsets me about this roster so far is that there does not appear to be any real rivalries yet. Of course you have Ryu vs Kazuya and Bob vs Rufus. But really??? It seems as if Ono is paying more attention to gimmicks than characters and head to head competition. No one cares about gem systems and pandora mode. That shit is for the flamers. I want to see Paul vs Ken, Law vs Fei Long, you understand where I'm coming from... Fights that matter to the people. Dee Jay vs Eddy Gordo. I know Harada-san won't feed into that nonsense, straight to the point... Great game.

Of course I will buy any fighting game Capcom releases, its in our blood. We want to see how much better it can get, how much creativity can be used. I know what I would do, but I'm not in charge of that. Meanwhile, UMVC3 on the 15th of this month, this month being November. I'll speak on that next...
